I do not hold any Massachusetts State Certifications, neither as a social worker nor as a Mental Health Professional. I do not accept any form of health insurance. I long ago noted the way medical and mental health insurance companies operate in the U.S., and I will have nothing to do with them. I prefer to put people first. I operate on my own as a Professional Coach, as a person who offers Writing For Self-Exploration to individuals and groups. My techniques rely upon a certain amount of writing as a way to explore and clarify who one is, so that one can make a lifechange (not just a job change) that is productive and enhances one's creativity. I don't believe in the sort of high-dependence therapy that takes years to unfold every neurosis, mostly because I don't think it works, and it certainly doesn't do much good for many sorts of people. Why do I think I can do this? Well, I've worked for many years with the learning disabled, with the incarcerated, and with the emotionally disturbed, and in that time I've learned that most people have a huge amount that they have never been permitted to say and express, and that it is absolutely necessary to be able to say and write and even draw those things before the individual can move forward to a new self. When we hold on to our rage, our fear, and our frustrations we are begging to let them go, but we're afraid to. Just as frightened animals do one of three thingsfight, flee, or freezeso do humans. We've learned that these modes can pay off in the short term so we do them, and then we forget what to do next. That's where a coach can be most helpful. If you have questions about coaching and what to expect, take a look at the Q&A page. To read more about my qualifications to be a coach, see my bio.
